A: If your present hosting provider can no longer answer the demands of your website, or when you go through continuous downtime, or if you are forced to wait for hours for the technical support team to respond to you, it might be smart to switch your hosting provider, i.e. to migrate all the files for your web sites along with your databases from your present provider to your new provider. At Philosopher hosting, we know that this can often be hard and time–consuming. That is the reason why we will perform all that for you at no cost!Our skilled technical staff reps will transfer your website content from your current provider to us. Our techs have broad experience with web site migration and are able to handle everything – from a conventional WordPress–driven blog or Joomla^™–based web site, to an extremely elaborate, custom–built app.

A: There are a lot of variables to think about – the total number of files, the physical size of the database, the complexity of the website itself and the current workload of our web site migration professionals, etc. Even so, we do our best to implement all web site migrations within a 48–hour time window. Smaller sites are migrated much faster – typically in less than 24 hours.

A: Yep. We will need the name of the website that you wish us to move. We will also require a way to access your current web hosting account so that we can get the content associated with your website.

A: In order for us to begin the migration of your web hosting account, you must already have an account with us. Opening an account with us requires that you to disclose literally the same info you have provided to your old web host. We also have an extremely strict Privacy Policy, which specifies how private data is used.

A: Nah. Your web site will continue to be completely operational during the migration. Once everything is done on our end, we will tell you so that you can examine it and check for any problems. If everything’s OK, all you will have to do is update your domain’s DNS settings.

A: While we transfer your content, your hosting provider will not be aware of the migration at all. We will never contact them in any way.

A: We can migrate your web site from any hosting provider or any Linux–driven hosting platform so long as we can get access to the Control Panel and there’s File Transfer Protocol access available.The only sites that we can’t transfer are those based on closed–source software applications such as Wix, BaseKit, Jimdo, Website Tonight, Four Square and Mr Site.
